Aldi Parking Time Limit: How Long Can You Park?
Last updated: July 2026
Aldi car park time limits are not the same everywhere. Some stores allow 60 minutes, others 90 minutes, and some larger stores or shared retail parks allow 120 minutes. The only rule that matters is the one shown on the signs at that specific car park.
Why Aldi Car Parks Have Time Limits
Aldi uses time limits to stop long-stay parking and keep spaces available for shoppers. Enforcement is normally handled by a private parking company using ANPR cameras at the entrance and exit.
That matters because ANPR records how long your vehicle was on site, not necessarily how long it was parked in a bay. Time spent queuing, finding a space, reading signs, paying, loading shopping, or leaving the car park may all be relevant to an appeal.
Who Sends Aldi Parking Charges?
Aldi does not usually issue the notice itself. The charge normally comes from a private operator, often ParkingEye, although the operator can vary by store or retail park.
Check the top of the notice for the operator name. If it is ParkingEye, read our ParkingEye appeal guide. For a full Aldi-specific appeal process, read what to do if you get a parking fine at Aldi.
Common Aldi Time Limit Problems
You Were a Genuine Aldi Customer
Being a genuine customer does not automatically cancel a private parking charge, but it helps. Keep your receipt, bank transaction, app order, or loyalty/payment evidence. Contact Aldi or the store quickly with the PCN reference and proof you were shopping.
You Only Overstayed by a Few Minutes
Private parking operators in accredited trade associations are expected to allow time for drivers to leave after the parking period ends. Citizens Advice says ATA members should give an extra 10 minutes before issuing a private Parking Charge Notice. If your overstay was small, use this in your appeal.
The Signs Were Not Clear
If the time limit was not obvious at the entrance, hidden by other vehicles, faded, unlit, or different across the site, take photos. A private parking company must show that the terms were clear enough for a driver to accept them.
The Visit Included More Than Shopping
Some Aldi sites share car parks with other shops. A shared retail park may have rules that are not obvious if you only look at Aldi branding. Photograph the site layout, store signs, entrance signs, and any conflicting terms.
ANPR Double-Dipped Your Vehicle
ANPR systems can sometimes record the first entry and last exit while missing an intermediate exit and re-entry. If you visited twice on the same day, gather receipts, location data, dashcam clips, or witness evidence.
What to Do If You Get an Aldi Parking Charge
- Do not pay first if you want to appeal. Payment can close the appeal route.
- Check the operator. The notice will say whether it is ParkingEye or another company.
- Check the dates. If it was sent by post, the 14-day Notice to Keeper rule may matter.
- Gather evidence. Receipts, bank statements, store emails, photos of signs, and screenshots all help.
- Ask Aldi to cancel it. This is especially useful if you were a genuine customer.
- Appeal to the operator. If rejected, use POPLA or IAS depending on the operator's trade body.
Template Appeal Wording
Dear Parking Operator,
I am appealing Parking Charge Notice [REFERENCE] issued at Aldi [LOCATION] on [DATE]. I was a genuine customer and have attached proof of purchase/payment.
The charge should be cancelled because [choose your reason: the alleged overstay falls within the required grace period / the signs did not clearly communicate the time limit / the ANPR record does not reflect the actual parked period / there were exceptional circumstances].
Please cancel this charge or provide the independent appeal code if you reject this appeal.
Yours faithfully,
[YOUR NAME]
